OUR MISSION 

As ambassadors of FIRST®, our intention is to inspire and impact others to become interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and in doing so, create lasting impact on our students, team, school, community, and world. 

 

OUR VISION

To provide unique student-driven opportunities which encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, cultivate valuable partnerships, and impart life skills that motivate students to pursue a future in STEM-related fields. We strive to empower students to explore their passions and work independently to solve problems and make effective decisions.

 

OUR PURPOSE

Our purpose is to expand the STEM-capable workforce increase the number of students in those fields, with an emphasis on broadening female and minority participation. Additionally, our purpose is to prioritize hands-on learning, while increasing and sustaining public and student engagement with STEM.

OUR HISTORY

This is the eleventh successful season for S.C.O.T.S Bots, and we are not slowing down now. Our team name, inspired by the Howell High School mascot, the (Scottish) Highlander, embodies our core values: Service, Character, Opportunity, Teamwork, and Spirit. Our Scottish clan consists of 32 students and 9 mentors form a diverse community, coming from all local schools, including Howell, Brighton, Pinckney and Hartland, as well as private and home schools. S.C.O.T.S. Bots is not the first Howell FIRST® Robotics Competition team. The original Howell team, the Highlanders #1256, dissolved in 2007.
